A 33-year-old man has been arrested after two teenagers were found dead inside a rental property at a holiday park near Bridlington.
Police were called to Little Eden Holiday Park on Wednesday, where the bodies of a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were discovered inside the accommodation. The teenagers have been identified as Cherish Bean, 15, and Ethan Slater, 17. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers arrested a 33-year-old man the following day on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. He remains in police custody.
Authorities say the deaths are currently being treated as unexplained. Investigators are exploring several lines of inquiry, including the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. Forensic examinations and specialist testing are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The deaths have sent shockwaves through the local community, with tributes pouring in for the two teenagers.
A GoFundMe page set up in memory of Ethan Slater describes the family’s devastation.
“It is with unimaginable heartbreak that I write this. Our son Ethan tragically and unexpectedly passed away at just 17 years old, alongside his beautiful girlfriend,” the statement reads. “No parent should ever have to write these words. No family should ever have to face this pain.”
The tribute describes Ethan as a young man with his life ahead of him, whose future milestones will now never be realised.
“He’ll never get to pass his driving test. He’ll never celebrate his 18th birthday. He’ll never reach the milestones we all assumed were waiting for him. He was just beginning his journey into adulthood, full of plans, laughter, and a future that was taken far too soon.”
His family remembered him as “the most kind-hearted boy” with “a natural warmth,” adding that he was funny, protective and carried himself with quiet strength and loyalty.
“He was loved beyond measure. A son, a brother, a grandson, a friend. His smile lit up a room, and his absence has left a silence that feels impossible to fill. Our lives will never be the same without him.”
The fundraising page states the family hopes to give Ethan “the best possible send off,” reflecting the love he gave and the impact he had in his 17 years.
“Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to our family during this devastating time. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.”
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
